The Toddler teachers, Louise, Lisa, Charisse & Abbey would like to welcome you and your child to our classroom.

Our Philosophy

Our children learn through play and the shared experiences they have with their teachers and other children.

We endeavour to have respectful practices that put the interests of our children and their individual choices first.

We want our children to learn to be independent and interdependent learners, and we do this by encouraging them to try things for themselves and to take responsibility for their own learning in dressing, toileting routines and eating.

We are here to guide and support our children through their learning. We are here for emotional and physical support if and when our children show us they need it. We give our children the time and space to explore and limit the amount of time we spend as teachers interfering with this learning process.

We encourage our children to use their words when expressing themselves and for those children who are still developing their verbal communication skills ’baby sign’ is continued on from our Infant classroom.

The care and safety of our children underpins everything that we do in the Toddler classroom.

Meet the Teachers

Team Leader

Louise has had experience with all ages of children in the centre and is currently our Team Coordinator in the Toddlers. She is a very bubbly, outgoing and enthusiastic person who enjoys getting messy with the children and who absolutely loves the colour PINK!! Louise is passionate about her role as a teacher and works hard to ensure that the children have a fun day in a great learning environment.

Charisse has been passionate about early childhood for as long as she can remember. She finished her ECE Diploma at Waikato University after her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and English. Charisse is excited to be working alongside the other Toddler teachers and to help support our tamariki in their development in her second year of teaching.

Charisse is originally from South Africa but has been in New Zealand for 9 years and got married to her kiwi husband in January 2017. Charisse is looking forward to getting to know you and your whānau.

Abbey is currently in her 3rd and final year of studying ECE and has worked with all 3 age groups. She is friendly, bubbly and caring. Abbey is very passionate about working with children as she enjoys watching them grow and achieve milestones.

I am a qualified teacher with about 18 years experience. I enjoy working with toddlers, while developing fundamental and social skills that lay the foundation for a life time of learning.

I have learnt over my career the importance and value of physical activity and art in a child's development and growth, so these areas have become a passion.

I also enjoy working in a team where I can support my fellow teachers by sharing my knowledge and understanding of child development, while also learning from them.

I have two wonderful children who are fast becoming independent adults.
